Vision and Mission

Our Vision

Our vision is to foster a society where strong social and civic values, personal and environmental hygiene, and ethical healthcare practices form the foundation of public health and social well-being. We believe that these values are fundamental indicators of a nation’s progress and, when neglected, become major contributors to preventable diseases and social instability—particularly in developing and resource-limited settings.

Our Mission

ABHAS was established by healthcare professionals - both retired and currently serving in government institutions—who are deeply committed to improving the health and social conditions of underserved populations in India and other developing countries. Inspired by the lived experiences of patients suffering from preventable diseases, disability, and social neglect, our mission is to:

  • Promote awareness and education on basic personal, community, and environmental hygiene to reduce preventable diseases.
  • Strengthen social and civic values by addressing harmful social taboos, myths, and misconceptions through sustained community engagement.
  • Empower communities through accessible awareness programs such as lectures, seminars, street plays (nukkad nataks), short educational videos, publications, conferences, and outreach campaigns.
  • Educate healthcare workers on safe injection practices, biomedical waste disposal, and infection prevention, ensuring safety for individuals, communities, and the environment.
  • Advocate for cleanliness and waste management as essential components of public health and neighbourhood well-being.

Through these efforts, ABHAS strives to bridge the gap between knowledge and practice, ensuring that health, dignity, and social responsibility are accessible to all.
